Today I installed a new alternator in the 911, and while it's better it's still not good. I really need to tear all of the wiring out and start clean. The wires for charging are far too small to carry the amount of current the car needs, and it's really odd how it's wired together.
I also installed a new main belt on the GTI because it was starting to make noise. The old belt looked fine, so I hope that it's fixed.
Also, I believe that the rear axle bushings need to be replaced on the GTI, so it's time to order those and get to work installing those. Ah, the fun never ends.

(07-12-2015) Second rear wheel bearing replacement
The passenger side rear wheel bearing was also replaced, but it didn't seem to help the noise I'm hearing. I pulled it all apart again, examined everything with a flashlight and I can't seem to find anything that is loose or worn. Now I'm reading and trying to find something that would cause a loud knock/clunking sound when going over a sharp bump.

(07-11-2015) Another day, another wheel bearing replacement
Blondie developed a growling sound as well as a loud clunking sound in the back when she would go over bumps. Thursday I discovered the sounds was from a bad driver's side rear wheel bearing. It didn't take too long to replace it, and it's great to be able to drive a quiet car again. I think I'm going to replace the passenger side now and see if that helps things even more.

(07-07-2015) The pressure is on...
I've wanted a good press in the shop for a long time, and now I have one. It's a 10 ton bench-top press from Dake. It may not be big, but I think it will be perfect for the shop.
I needed a press for pushing in bushings for R2's feet, and so I took this as an excuse to buy one for the shop.
